International Economics

The American University Master in International Economics degree is offered by the School of International Service in cooperation with AU’s Department of Economics. One step further than the International Affairs: International Economic Relations (IER) degree, it is designed for those who have previously majored or minored in economics. Students focus on economic analysis in the international spectrum, with core courses covering mathematical economics, economic theories of trade, and others.

Total credits required for degree:  39 credit hours; depending on the results of the mandatory economics placement test. Students who place into ECON 603 must take this credit-bearing prerequisite course which is not applied towards the master’s degree.
