As a graduate student at American University, having a meal plan is optional. You are free to cook meals in your off-campus residence, explore Washington, DC’s many delicious restaurants, or pay separately for on-campus dining.

About Meal Plans
If you’d like an optional meal plan, American has multiple plans for you to choose from so you can select the one that best fits your on-campus dining needs.
- Enjoy all-you-care-to-eat meals in the Terrace Dining Room, located in the Mary Graydon Center.
- Choose from daily menus of salads, pastas, pizzas, international meals, entrees made with local ingredients, vegetarian and vegan options, and more.
- Pick from 7 meal plans, based on your dining habits and preferences.
Did you know? In addition to the Terrace Dining Room, you can also use your dining plan at on-campus retail locations, including grab-and-go meals at P.O.D. Market, international cuisine at Global Fresh, sandwiches at Subway, and healthy meals at Freshii.
